I am a PhD candidate in education policy and equity at Saint Louis University. My research interests include permanent school closures, school district governance, and intergovernmental collaboration between cities and schools.
I've been publicly writing about education in St. Louis since 2020 when I wrote my first op-ed for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch during the school closure process. I now write a (usually) weekly newsletter via Substack.
I am also a former Board President for the Board of Education of the City of St. Louis and a former SLPS teacher. A city resident since 2006, I claim St. Louis as my hometown since I've lived here longer than any other place I've ever lived. I have two kids who are both SLPS students.
